The Steeple on Fire June 3, 2004.

June 3, 2004 -- A gorgeous day...and then the unimaginable happened.  A few were given an opportunity to witness what was to many, one of the more tragic events in our parish’s history.
We, as a community, were gifted with a most unique photographic collection shot by a local Frederick County Firefighter on the day of the fire.  The thought of sharing with the community, parish and local, the images of the day began to emerge.  The creation of a video photo story, documenting the fire using some of the photos, was undertaken.  When Monsignor John suggested including remembrances of the day by those who were there, the “FireStories” Project was conceived. The culmination of those efforts is presented in the “Fire at St. Peter’s” DVD.
See the sequence of photos as the fire consumes the Steeple.  Hear the recollections of the day by Msgr John, Deacon Mike, other church staff and parishioners.  Hear how the plans for the new church were influenced by a “Deacon with a tape measure.”

“The Fire at St. Peter’s” is a DVD collection of over 350 photos of the Fire taken by Greg Valcourt, a Frederick Co. EMT on the scene the day of the fire, and a dramatic video photo-story created by Ken Dyer documenting the fire.  In addition, there are recollections by Msgr. John Dietzenbach, Deacon Mike Misulia, Priscilla Spielman, Liz Hunter, Ed & Judy Smarsh, Chip & Debbie Stevens, Linda Pototschnik, and Paul Turner.

Available for a donation of $25.  All proceeds from the donations for the DVD will benefit the Building Fund for the new church.

DVDs are now available.  Please contact Doug Jackson @ 301-829-0518 or send email to firestories@stpeter-libertytown.org

You can also use the PDF order form to fill-in, print-out and mail-in for processing.

We have had reports of a few of the DVDs that seem incompatible with a small number of players.  The symptoms are the DVD will play the first selection ("The Fire") and then stop and give a disc error message. A few users have reported that they cannot select the next section ("The FireStories") or view the photographs from the 'Firemen's Photos' menu.  UPDATE: We have determined a bug in the DVD mastering software as the cause.  If you have experienced this type of trouble and have a disc that does not play all the way through, it will be replaced with a new version.  Please send email to firestories@stpeter-libertytown.org. or call 301-829-0518 to arrange for a replacement.
