The Steeple on Fire June 3, 2004The "FireStories" Project

The "FireStories" Project has been completed and the DVDs are available!

The events of June 3, 2004, for many will be firmly etched in our minds as we heard the news that the church was burning or we witnessed the flames engulfing the steeple. Perhaps you were there on the campus of St. Peter's to witness the fire. Maybe you were watching the television broadcasts. Maybe you were at work and saw the internet news clips from the local news coverage.

Have you thought about telling your story? What do you remember and what would like to share with other parishioners of the church?

We are undertaking a project to capture the thoughts and stories of day of the fire. Ten seconds or ten minutes, your recollection is wanted. We will have several methods by which you can contribute. Video, Audio, Written, Photography, and Artwork. Selected items will be compiled and made available to parishioners on DVD. The hope would be for all contributions to be archived and stored as part of the archives of the church.

If you would be interested in sharing your recollections of the day, please contact Doug or Terri Jackson @ 301-829-0518 or by email to FireStories@stpeter-libertytown.org.

DETAILS:

Video: Video submissions can be self-produced. VHS Tape, DVD, or electronic video file format acceptable. We will be scheduling video taping sessions for those who would like to video tape a recollection but don't have the equipment to do so. Due to file size restrictions, we will be unable to accept large video files via email. These video submissions should be original in content and not copies of news broadcasts due to copyright limitations.

Audio: Audio recordings of your memeories. Audio format can be Cassette Tape, CD, or electronic audio file (WAV,mp3). Audio recording sessions can also be scheduled.

Written: Written remembrances can be submitted either electronically or printed copy. These should be original written accounts. Electronic formats can be Microsoft Word, Rich Text format (RTF), Text, Adobe PDF, openoffice.org/Star Office (sxw/odt). We have set up an email address specifically for either simple email recollections or file submission. Send email to FireStories@stpeter-libertytown.org.

Photography: Electronic image files are preferred, but we will also accept prints. Due to copyright laws, you must be the owner of the image in order to submit (no copies from newspapers, or image captures from broadcasts) or have written permission from the owner of the image. You must indicate if you want the prints returned to you, otherwise we will add the prints to the archives. Image files can be submitted via email (FireStories@stpeter-libertytown.org) or on CD media.

Artwork: Sketches, Drawings, Paintings.  Selected artwork will be scanned or digitally imaged.
You must indicate if you want the artwork returned to you, otherwise it will be placed in the archives.
