Preparation for receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation at St. Peter's

 "Through the sacrament of Confirmation, those who have been born anew in Baptism receive the inexpressible Gift, the Holy Spirit, by which they are endowed...with special strength."      Pope Paul VI, Apostolic Constitution on the Sacrament of Confirmation.

 At St. Peter's, the Sacrament of Confirmation is conferred in the spring to 10th grade high school students who have completed preparation.


  •  Consistent participation in our high school youth ministry program (formerly called Life Teen) in 9th and 10th grades.  (Parish and youth community involvement in addition to catechesis).
  •  Consistent participation in our Confirmation Preparation Program
  •  10 hours of service, at least 5 of which must support St. Peter's
    • Must be conducted during the 10th grade school year
    • Most (if not all) of this can be met through participating in youth ministry
  •  At least one retreat experience in 9th and 10th grades
    • Many opportunities - High School Fall retreat, Mount 2000, Appalachia Mission project, national youth conferences (Steubenville, NCYC, ...)
  •  Attend Confirmation Retreat in 10th grade (scheduled for 27-29 March 2020)
  •  Prayer and worship experiences
    • Examples include Eucharistic Adoration, morning pilgrimage to Seton Shrine, etc.
    • These will be part of our youth ministry programs
  •  Confirmandi/sponsor faith sharing

Confirmation Preparation Program:

  • Weekly Monday evening (7:00 to 8:30 PM) meetings, starting in mid-January
  • Catechesis will employ a 12 week version of Chosen program (Ascension Press) with small group sharing
  • Service and worship activities

Confirmation Date:  TBD, proposed 8, 15, and 22 May (Friday evenings)

Other Items:

  • Sponsor Selection - Confirmed Catholic in good standing, at least 16 years old, may NOT be parent of Confirmandi
  • Confirmation Saint selection
  • Initial & final interviews with CORE team member
