Confirmation at Saint Peters!

One8 is the program used for Confirmation Preparation here at St. Peter’s. One8 is a two year program that meets twice a month on Thursday evenings from 7pm-8:30pm, from October to May.

Youth should be in at least 9th grade when they begin their Confirmation Preparation process.

Youth who choose to be Candidates for Confirmation must attend One8 (Confirmation Preparation), be enrolled at a Catholic parochial school, or be home-schooled for their religious education. While One8 is only mandatory for public school Candidates, it is highly suggested for all Candidates to attend, as this brings all Candidates into community with the greater parish.

All Candidates are required to submit necessary paperwork, are expected to attend a Confirmation Retreat, complete a service project that took a minimum of twenty hours, and attend/participate in five religious devotional experiences during their preparation. Additionally all Candidates during their 10th grade year will be asked to complete an interview with Cat or another designated staff member to determine readiness and eligibility to receive the Sacrament.

To Register for Confirmation please use our printable form. Return the form to the Parish Office, or email a copy to the youth minister.

Confirmation Sponsors:
Candidates for Confirmation do not go through the process alone. In addition to their parents, the primary catechists in their children’s faith lives, there is the One8 Core, and the Candidates’ sponsors. Sponsors should play a big part in walking with the Candidate, not only towards the Sacrament of Confirmation, but in the years that follow. For this reason, we encourage the Candidate to select their sponsor as early as possible, preferably no later than the start of their 9th grade year, so that the shared faith journey together might begin. All Candidates and their sponsors are asked to attend a Candidate and Sponsor Day Retreat held in December each year. This Day Retreat is mandatory for all 9th grade students and any 10th grade students who missed it the year before.
